Public Notification for the CDOT I-25 North Express Lanes Impact to the Fort Collins Archery Range

CDOT is constructing the I-25 North Express Lanes project, which includes adding an Express Lane in both directions of I-25 between Colorado Highway 402 and the tie-in just south of the Mulberry Street/SH-14 interchange. Since federal funding through the Federal Highway Adminstration (FHWA) is being utilized for the project, the project must comply with Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act of 1966.

Section 4(f) affords special protection to publicly owned parks, recreational resources, wildlife and waterfowl refuges, and publicly or privately owned historic sites. The Fort Collins Archery Range is considered a Section 4(f) resource since it is a publicly owned recreation facility. The archery range driveway will be reconstructed and a small portion of its land will be permanently incorporated into the transportation facility as a result of realigning the Frontage Road to accommodate the relocated Port-of-Entry.

This will result in an acquisition of approximately 0.03 acre (about 1,300 square feet) of right-of-way and a temporary construction easement of approximately 0.10 acre (about 4,500 square feet). The archery range will remain accessible during and after project construction and no archery range-related features will be impacted. Construction in this area is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2020.
